Papa's Army Reunion

Okay, so last year my sister and I agreed to host an Army Reunion for my papa here in Birmingham. When mom called and asked, we both thought it was a greaaaat idea. For future reference, don't make huge obligations after you have been drinking. At that point, everything seems like a great idea.
The funniest part was before it even started. I had wanted to put huge signs coming off the interstate saying "Welcome 820th Army Reunion." I assigned the task of getting rebarb to my dad. I thought, what a great job for him, go to the mans toy store. Well, he came back with like 1"x1" pieces of wood. 9 foot long, pieces of wood!!!! How was I suppose to drive a square peg into the ground after I climbed on top. Did I mention I wanted these on the side of the interstate. I am attaching a picture that sums the whole experience up!!
So, October 9 - 11 was the reunion. It was actually there 52nd reunion. We had around 16 couples my grandparents age show up. Have I mentioned I was called to work with elderly folks? We had all of them booked at the Microtel Inn in Gardendale. If anyone is looking for a place for friends or family to stay, I highly recommend this place. I know from the name it sounds really "high" class ;-) but the staff was super nice and extremely accomadating to everyone who was there with us. We had to plan activities for them all weekend. We ended up taking a "field trip" each day. And, since there were way more than would fit in one car it looked as if we were traveling in a caravan. We also had a banquet dinner for them on Saturday. It turned out really pretty. I bought a ton of decorations from partypro.com. They were much cheaper than like party city, because you can buy in bulk. But, I have to say, you get what you pay for. I was just glad everything held up through the dinner.
